Artifacts stolen from a Jewish family in Berlin by the Nazis many years ago were recently returned to their original heirs after 87 years.
According to foreign media reports, in 1933 the Nazis looted works of art from a Jewish family that had recently been discovered in a small museum in New York, after which they were returned to their original heirs.
The works were called Winters, part of a collection of 1,000 works by Gary Melchers, an American artist who was snatched from a prominent Jewish family in Berlin after being targeted by the Nazi party.
After the artifacts were snatched away, the heirs of the Jewish family have been waiting anxiously for decades to get them back.
"This Jewish family has lost everything, but they have not given up hope," said the New York North District Attorney.
He added: "Although the pain that the Jewish family has gone through cannot be removed, I hope that finding these works of art will bring some justice to their family.
