The first mega project of PTI for Lahore city is likely to be completed in record time. The Firdous Market underpass project should be completed in all respects and opened for traffic on October 31. According to details, the residents of Lahore have been given good news regarding the only mega project Firdous Market Underpass launched by the PTI Punjab government for Lahore city during the last two years.
It has been informed that the project will be made operational from October 31. In this regard, Director General Lahore Development Authority Ahmed Aziz Tarar has directed that the Firdous Market Underpass project should be completed in all respects and opened to traffic on October 31. This is a flagship project of the government, there is no justification for further delay.
It has been started for the convenience of the people of Lahore. Its completion was delayed due to rains, for which we apologize to the citizens.
The Director General said that work on the project continued day and night and on the occasion of Eid. The entire team has worked very hard to bring the project to this point. He directed that the quality of work should not be compromised for the completion of the project as soon as possible and timely supply of construction materials for this purpose should be ensured. He said that timely payment to the contractor should be ensured after fulfilling the legal requirements.
He was presiding over a meeting at the site office to review the progress of ongoing work on the project. Members of the Governing Body Engineer Amir Riaz Qureshi, Chief Engineer Habib-ul-Haq Randhawa, Chief Engineer Tipa Abdul Razzaq and Project Director Akbar Hussain were present on the occasion. Director Finance Muhammad Akhtar, Nespak Engineer and representatives of the contractor were present. The Director General was informed that 95% work of Firdous Market Underpass project has been completed.
Construction work of service roads of the project is underway. Asphalt laying work in underpass barrels will start tomorrow. 10 special wells were constructed to handle rain water coming from Firdous Market underpass and adjoining roads. Two more wells are under construction.
