A fire broke out in the electric meter room of the girls' school and while extinguishing it, security guard Saad Rabi himself was burnt and injured. The electric meter room is located in the school premises.
According to Saudi media, the guard worked hard to put out the fire and quickly pulled out the furniture in the electric meter room, during which his hands were burnt by the fire.
The injured guard was rushed to the hospital for immediate medical treatment. Saad Rabi, a guard at the girls' school, said the fire broke out when the school was open and teachers were present.
Suddenly I saw a fire in the electric meter room. I saw flames blazing fast. I quickly pulled out the furniture in the room and managed to put out the fire before it reached the transformer.
I was later rushed to the hospital by ambulance as my hands were burnt by the fire. Doctors said that due to the burns, my hand would be operated on.
Saad Rabi further told the media that the Director General of Jazan Education Department telephoned me and inquired about my well-being and thanked me for the bold move.
