The FIA's cybercrime wing reportedly received a complaint from a citizen that a police ASI was blackmailing him. Later, the FIA Cyber Crime Wing team arrested the police ASI. Upon ASI's arrest, his fellow police officers attacked the FIA team, uniformed police officers stormed the FIA team, tortured them and forced the accused ASI to flee.
After the incident, a case was registered against eight policemen, including a sub-inspector, at Madina Town police station at the request of the FIA. Faisalabad police said that two officials involved in the incident have also been suspended. In this regard, the SSP operation said that a case has been registered against the officials involved in the attack on the FIA team and the escape of the accused and a departmental inquiry has also been started.
