Pakistan has achieved significant diplomatic success by being elected a member of the UN Human Rights Council. According to MED or reports, Pakistan was elected a member of the UN Human Rights Council for the next three years by an overwhelming majority. Recorded votes in the Human Rights Council elections and became the country with the highest number of votes in the Asia-Pacific region. Pakistan managed to get a total of 191 to 169 votes, while Saudi Arabia could not become a member of the Human Rights Council.
Expressing happiness on the occasion, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that being elected a member of the Human Rights Council was an expression of confidence in Pakistan's policies at the international level. Pakistan has always raised its voice for the protection of human rights at the international level. The UN Council has exposed India's illegal activities.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi further said that Pakistan would continue to raise its voice in favor of all the oppressed including Kashmir. Human Rights Council has taken notice of Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir.
