One week before the US general election, Judge Amy Connie Barrett was sworn in as a Supreme Court judge after ratification by the US Senate.
Judge Barrett, nominated by President Trump, administered the oath of office to Justice Clarence Thomas at the White House in the presence of President Trump.

Judge Barrett said she would perform her duties without fear or favor.
In the US Senate, Judge Barrett received 48 votes out of 52.

In a message of condolence over Ginsberg's death, President Trump said in a message that the entire nation was "deeply saddened" by the death of Justice, a "guardian of the law" and a "perfect mind."
