In the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP), three neighbors harassed a 15-year-old girl, beat her and then threw her from the roof.
According to Indian media reports, several reports of atrocities against women are circulating in Uttar Pradesh, however, a 15-year-old girl has been harassed, beaten and thrown from the roof.
Police have confirmed the tragic incident involving a 15-year-old girl in Mayo District, 300km from the state capital Lucknow, the report said.
The 15-year-old girl was returning home when she was attacked by three neighbors who threw her off the roof of the building, police said.
The girl was critically injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, Azamgarh. Her condition is said to be critical.
The incident was reported to the police on October 23. The elements involved in harassing, beating and throwing the girl from the roof have been arrested.
The initial report filed by the girl's parents said that the three accused dragged their daughter to the roof of the building and threw her down from the roof when the girl resisted.
According to police officer Sushil Dhol, the victim said that the accused had beaten and beaten her.
The injured girl also identified the three accused by their names.
Dhol added that in light of the girl's statement, the family members registered a case under the provisions of assault and molestation on the complaint and arrested the three accused.
According to the police, further provisions could be added in the case based on the girl's medical report.
Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a spate of crimes against women in recent days, with the opposition blaming Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, whose government has failed to ensure the safety of women.
