Bollywood actor Ali Fazal's old edited tweet was used to boycott the crime thriller web series 'Mirzapur 2' in India, but the series was nevertheless released.
'Mirzapur 2' is Amazon Prime's third original web series in India, which was released on October 23.
According to the Indian newspaper Indian Express, as soon as Mirzapur 2 was released, there were rumors about it and the fans ignored the boycott against the series and termed the story of the thriller crime series better than the first season.
"Mirzapur 2" is the second season of the web series of the same name to be released in 2018. The said web series shows the politics based on crime and violence in the region of Puro Vanchal between the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
The story of the web series is fictional but the area shown in the series has been the center of violence in India for many years and there have been calls for a separate state.
The Pro Wanchal area is based on several districts and the people of the same area have been demanding a new state by merging some more districts and the area is also considered to be the largest Bhojpuri speaking area.
From the same constituency, 30 members of the Lok Sabha and about 170 members of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly are elected.
The web series, while showing the battle for power in Mirzapur, also shows the criminal activities of politicians in the area.
Following the release of the Mirzapur 2 trailer, extremist Hindus in India this month launched a campaign to boycott the web series, expressing anger over an old edited tweet by Muslim actor Ali Fazl.
An old tweet of Mirzapur 2 actor Ali Fazal was edited and shared on social media and the same tweet was used as an excuse to boycott 'Mirzapur 2'.
Ali Fazal's tweet which was used as an excuse to boycott 'Mirzapur 2' was actually a fake tweet of the actor.
Ali Fazal, while sharing a glimpse of 'Mirzapur 2' in August this year, had written a dialogue of the same web series 'Shuru Majboori Mein, Ab Aaye Ga Maza', which is being edited and the actor is being defamed.
The actor's tweet was edited and a picture of the hand of a police officer killed in riots during a protest over a controversial citizenship issue in the capital New Delhi earlier this year was posted.
Under the dialogue of the web series written by the actor of the tweet, a picture of the hand of the body of the police officer who was killed by the protesters was included and it was spread on the internet and a boycott campaign of 'Mirzapur 2' was launched.
Campaigners called the Muslim actor an anti-India actor and appealed to the people to boycott the web series 'Mirzapur 2' of the anti-India actor who used poisonous language. However, Prime Amazon released the web series. ۔
