The Kuwaiti government has warned citizens, especially smokers, that strict legal action will be taken against those who smoke in cramped and small public places.
The move was made by the Kuwaiti Environmental Public Authority in response to a video that went viral on social media, showing a government employee smoking while on duty.
The said public authority has taken immediate action against the smoker under Article 56 of the Environmental Protection Act.
A spokesman for the Environmental Public Authority told the media that smoking in closed and semi-closed public places is strictly prohibited, except in places designated for smoking.
The spokesman appealed to the people to cooperate with the administration in enforcing the law so that they can clean the society from pollution and save the people from diseases.
