Iran announces heavy fines for not wearing masks



In the Iranian capital, Tehran, the use of face masks has been made mandatory to prevent corona.

According to Iranian media, President Hassan Rouhani instructed to strictly implement the face mask and announced fines on violators.

Addressing a meeting of the National Task Force on Corona Outbreak, President Hassan Rouhani said that those who do not wear masks in public places in Tehran will be fined.

He said that those who do not wear face mask will be fined 500,000 riyals while the person affected by Corona will inform his family, work place and those in contact about the epidemic and will be quarantined for 2 weeks.

The President said that those who do not do so will be fined 2 million riyals. A taxi driver who does not wear a driving fee mask will be fined 1 million riyals while a passenger without a mask will be fined 200,000 riyals for boarding a taxi.
