Hafeez Center fire, loss of Rs 2 billion to traders, government prepares compensation plan

 
The Punjab government has decided to compensate the traders of Hafeez Center affected by the fire. The government will provide loans of Rs. 2 billion to traders on easy terms.

According to private TV, the Punjab government has completed the paperwork of relief package for the affected traders of Hafeez Center. The damage caused by the fire is estimated at Rs 2 billion and the government will provide loans of Rs 2 billion to the affected traders on easy terms through the Bank of Punjab.

The relief package will be implemented after the approval and announcement of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab. The victims will be given soft loans at 4 to 5 per cent mark-up under the Punjab Chief Minister's Employment Scheme, of which 8 per cent will be given by the Punjab government as a subsidy.

The government has also offered shop to shop to traders, identifying 135 shops of IT Tower adjacent to Hafeez Center and offering to the victims. Victims can get a shop immediately if they want. The term of the loan provided on easy terms will be five to eight years.
