Two French women have been charged with stabbing Muslim women in France.
Two French women are accused of stabbing two Muslim women wearing hijabs in the French capital, Paris, on Wednesday night.
Prosecutors have charged French women with assault and racism.
Muslim women and their children were walking in a park near the Eiffel Tower in Paris when drunken women tried to rip off their hijabs and attacked them with knives.
According to AFP, Muslim women complained to French women about their dog, saying they were scared. During the altercation, the French woman suddenly pulled out a knife and attacked the two Muslim women.
Hijab-wearing Muslim women are said to be between 19 and 40 years old.
A 40-year-old woman has received six stab wounds. The woman is being treated at a Paris hospital for a kidney infection. The 19-year-old woman sustained three injuries and was discharged from the hospital after dressing.
One woman involved in the attack is in police custody, while another has been released on bail, according to AFP.
The victim's lawyer, Eri Alimi, said the accused women deserved severe punishment for trying to kill on the basis of race and religion.
Defendants' attorney, Bernard, denied the allegations, saying racist remarks were not made against the victims.
The French media is being criticized for remaining silent on the attack on Muslim women.
