The US company Tesla is currently leading the market for electric vehicles, but this is likely to change in the near future.
Mercedes-Benz has announced that its Vision EQXX concept electric vehicle will be able to travel up to 750 miles on a single charge.
According to the company, the car will be able to travel from Beijing to Shanghai on a single charge, or from Karachi to Lahore.
In such a long journey, this vehicle will surpass even the vehicles with huge petrol fuel tanks.
Marcus Schaefer, head of research and development at Mercedes-Benz, said: "We set up a group of our engineers and they were given an extraordinary job - to build the most powerful electric vehicle in the range.
"It was a serious project that worked on next-generation technologies. Our goal is to make these technologies a part of next-generation vehicle production," he said.
Under this project, Vision EQX took the form of a concept vehicle, some teasers of which will also be released.
Capable of traveling such a long distance on a single charge, this car relies on technologies instead of a large battery.
According to the company, the program will test new technologies to improve the efficiency of production vehicles.
Although EQX is a technology program, the diversity is expected to become part of production vehicles soon, the statement said.
The company did not say when the prototype model would be introduced.
