The Chinese government has warned Washington that it could issue arrest warrants for Americans in the country if the US Justice Department files a lawsuit against scholars linked to the Chinese military.
Reuters quoted the Wall Street Journal as saying that "officials familiar with the matter said China had sent the message to the US leadership through various channels."
China's message was to stop filing cases against Chinese scholars in US courts, otherwise Americans living in China could also face Chinese law.
