Maulana Asaduddin Owaisi, head of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-e-Muslimeen and a member of the Lok Sabha from the southern state of Hyderabad Deccan, has said that we are not children so that no one can deceive us.
"We know very well what the Citizenship Amendment Act and the Non-Resident Indian mean," he said.
He was responding to a speech by Mohan Bhagwat, head of the extremist Hindu organization and RSS, the ideologically irrigating organization of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
It may be recalled that Mohan Bhagwat, while addressing on the occasion of Hindu festival Dussehra in Nagpur today, had said that the Citizenship Amendment Act was not against any particular religious community.
He also said that those who are opposing it want to mislead our Muslim brothers through propaganda and spread the misconception that it is aimed at limiting the Muslim population.
Maulana Asaduddin Owaisi in his specific style and clear reply to the RSS chief said that if it is not against Muslims then all clauses and references related to religion should be removed from this law.
"We will protest again and again, and we will continue to protest as long as there are laws in which we have to prove that we are Indian citizens," he added.
"We will protest against any law that is based on religion," he said.
Addressing the opposition Congress, RJD and other parties, Asaduddin Owaisi said in a tweet that we have not forgotten your silence during our protests.
Asaduddin Owaisi added that while the BJP leaders were telling the people of Semanchal area of Bihar to infiltrate, the Congress, RJD and other opposition parties remained silent spectators.
