The incident took place in the US state of Oregon. A boy named James Kenneth pulled a pistol from a drawer of a table and inadvertently placed it on a container and fired.
Parents and relatives immediately called the emergency number and reported the incident, but unfortunately the child had died.
Doctors also confirmed Kimson's death on arrival at the hospital.
Police have not registered a case against anyone so far but an investigation has been launched into the incident.
