As hotels in the UK closed due to the Corona lockdown, rats began eating turtles to satisfy their hunger.
According to a report by a foreign news agency, British hotel owners say that after the items in the kitchens ran out, the rats have now started attacking the pet turtles. When found, turtles have started preying on them.
A social organization working for the welfare of turtles has complained that a large number of rats have been disturbed by their hunger this year, which is why they have started attacking pets. These animals should be protected from becoming food for rats.
Sila Claypool, a 60-year-old tortoise conservationist, said she had seen 12 rat attacks on turtles in Glamorgan County this year.
"Rats always come in groups and start eating turtles after attacking them," he said.
Veterinarian Ricardo Cardia says that rats are much more agile and powerful than turtles, while turtles are always sitting in one place, which is why rats have started eating them alive.
He said that several people had come to him with complaints and said that their turtles were being endangered by rats and that the rats had eaten many of their turtles.
