The Saudi astronomical agency has said that the moon will be directly above the Kaaba on Monday, September 14, so that people from far away will be able to know the exact direction of Baitullah.
Engineer Majid Al-Zahra, director of the Society of Astronomical Sciences in Jeddah, told Saudi broadcaster Al-Arabiya that the moon would rise just above the Kaaba on September 14, a few hours after sunrise. This will be the fourth time this year that the moon has risen above the Kaaba.
Engineer Majid said that at 09:33:54 on Monday morning, the moon will be at an altitude of 895840 degrees on the horizon of Makkah Mukarramah. At this point, the moon will be 13.7% brighter and its distance from the sun will be 373958 km.
According to Engineer Majid, the direction of the Qiblah can be determined in a very simple way in this case. People living far away can find the right direction of Baitullah by looking at the moon while staying in their places.
In addition, on September 14, just hours before sunrise, the last moon of the month will be paired with the planet Venus. This magnificent scene can be seen with the human eye.
According to the head of the Jeddah Society of Astronomy, the Moon and Venus are the second and third brightest bodies in the sky after the Sun, respectively. Therefore, they can be seen in a beautiful scene with the onset of morning light.
