The Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah passed away some time ago due to a long illness.
According to the report of Arab News Agency, Emir of the Gulf state of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah passed away in the United States this afternoon at the age of 91, Kuwait's state broadcaster announced the death of Emir of Kuwait
Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad moved to the United States for treatment in July this year, after which he underwent surgery in Kuwait.
It may be recalled that Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad assumed the post of Emir of the oil-rich Arab state of Kuwait in 2006, while he had been overseeing the foreign affairs and policies of the state for 50 years.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad served as Kuwait's foreign minister from 1963 to 1991, and in 1993 he was re-appointed as Kuwait's foreign minister, a position he held until 2003.
After the Emir of Kuwait, his 83-year-old half-brother and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad is expected to take over as Emir of Kuwait.
It should be noted that Al-Sabah has been ruling the Gulf state of Kuwait for the last 260 years. Kuwait is one of the six countries in the world with large oil reserves.
