The Afghan government released all Taliban prisoners.

Afghan media have claimed that the government has released all Taliban fighters, but there are seven prisoners who will be transferred directly to Qatar.

According to Afghan media reports, the Taliban had provided the Afghan government with a list of 5,000 prisoners under which all but seven fighters have been released in stages.

According to the report, Taliban sources also confirmed the release of all the prisoners. The government had the last group of 400 Taliban fighters who have been released.

Prisoners released under an agreement between the two sides will no longer join the war. Sources revealed that the seven prisoners who were not released from government custody were high profile militants.

The sources added that the move by the government was paving the way for further talks and the parties could soon announce a deadline for inter-Afghan talks.
