Abdul Hameed Khan, the founder of the banned Gilgit-Baltistan-based Upper Orissa National Front (BNF), surrendered unconditionally to Pakistani security officials on February 8, 2019, after 20 years in exile. He has now made a frightening claim about his days in exile. According to Daily Dawn, on September 9, 2020, he spoke to journalists in Gilgit-Baltistan in which he said that he managed to escape from Pakistan on a visit visa to Nepal in May 1999 and reach Nepal. There he settled matters with an agent of the Indian intelligence agency Rai and then took 25,000 Euros (approximately Rs. 49.36 lakh) a month from Rai and engaged in conspiracies to make the youth of Gilgit-Baltistan hate Pakistan. He said that when he finally came to know about Rai's nefarious plans, he turned himself in to Pakistani security forces.
Abdul Hameed Khan said that he had also met with Rai's chief and Rai wanted to set up a network for sabotage in Gilgit-Baltistan through Abdul Hameed Khan. For this purpose, Raya also wanted to set up a radio station in occupied Kashmir near the Gilgit-Baltistan border so that it could carry out negative and toxic propaganda against Pakistan and make the people of Gilgit-Baltistan hate Pakistan. "I was misled, so I kept playing into the hands of the enemy," he said. When I found out about India's intentions, I decided to return to Pakistan. ”Abdul Hameed Khan also apologized to the people of Pakistan and the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. Addressing the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, he said, “India can never be our sincerity. Our country is Pakistan because our rights are protected here. I appeal to the youth of Gilgit-Baltistan to remain loyal to their country. ”
It should be noted that the Upper National Front Hamid Group was formed in 1995 and its founder Abdul Hameed Khan had been living in exile since 1999. He spent years in exile in different countries and during that time he kept coming and going to India. The Upper Balochistan National Front was formed by Nawaz Khan Naji and Abdul Hameed Khan, but later the two parted ways. Nawaz Khan Naji took the path of politics while Abdul Hameed Khan went on the path of anarchy and formed his own organization called Balawaristan National Front Hameed Group which has now been banned by NICTA.
