NAB raids former income tax officer's house, how much money came out

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recovered Rs 33 crore in cash and prize bonds from the house of a former 16th grade income tax inspector in a raid during an investigation into a case of disproportionate income. A major breakthrough came in the investigation of the Jat case when 330 million cash and prize bonds were recovered from the house of a former Grade 16 employee of the Excise and Taxation Department, Lahore.

With the great success of NAB Lahore Intelligence Wing, the ongoing investigation against the accused took a new turn and the marker hidden in the house of the former Income Tax Inspector was found to be worth crores of rupees in cash and the accused Khawaja Wasim was arrested. Evidence of assets of value was received, the sources of which have not yet been proved. The investigation also found evidence of more than Rs 190 million cash and prize bonds in the name of accused Khawaja Wasim's wife.

Accused Khawaja Waseem took advantage of the amnesty scheme in 2018 and converted crores of rupees into legitimate income even though he was not eligible to benefit from the scheme as he was a government accused.

The investigation revealed that more than Rs 220 million was transferred from abroad to the accused's bank accounts between 2013 and 2017. The sources of capital transferred from abroad by the accused could not be proved yet. After the arrest of accused Khawaja Waseem by the NAB officials, he will appear before the accountability court.
