Harsamrat Kaur announced his resignation on the social networking site Twitter and said that he had resigned in protest against the anti-farmer ordinance. She is proud to stand with the farmers and she is their daughter and sister
Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsamrat Kaur Badal wrote in his tweet that "I have resigned from the Union Cabinet in protest of anti-farmer ordinances and laws. Harsamrat Kaur has sent his resignation letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
Indian President Ram Nath Kavand has accepted the resignation of Harsamrat Kaur Badal as Minister for Food Processing Industry and Narendra Singh Tomar has been given additional charge of his ministry.
Earlier, while warning the BJP, Sukbir Singh Badal said that his party could sacrifice anything for the benefit of the farmers. He vehemently opposed the three agriculture-related bills introduced by the government in Parliament and appealed to the Center to address the concerns of farmers.
Reacting to the resignation of Harsamrat Kaur Badal, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of India said that he resigned under the pressure of local politics in Punjab. However, the party still hopes that the issue will be resolved after talks.
