Hurricane Sally weakened the coastal states of Alabama and Florida.

A Category Two hurricane swept across coastal Alabama and Florida with strong winds and torrential rains yesterday.

The slow-moving storm rained for 16 hours in several areas, with more than two feet of rain recorded in some places.

The storm closed power lines and trees in many areas.

Hundreds of people trapped in the water were evacuated by boat following a curfew in the worst-hit areas.

According to foreign media reports, about half a million people are still without electricity.

The storm is expected to bring more than a foot of rain and flooding to the coastal areas of Georgia and Carolina.

The hurricane is heading off the coast of Georgia and North South Carolina, killing one person and leaving another missing.
