How does the corona virus affect cells?

How the novice coronavirus attacks cells in the body is indicated by new images that are startling.

These images show how many virus particles are invading cells in the respiratory tract.

The University of North Carolina School of Medicine in the United States has released images of the respiratory tract showing how the corona virus infects cells here.

The images, published in the medical journal New England Journal of Medicine, were taken by Camilla Eri, an assistant professor in the Pedia Turkish department, to gauge the severity of the virus attack.

The images contain thousands of virus particles in the shape of a round ball, and a scanning electron microscope was used to pull them out.

It is a device used to focus on electrons in images.

For this purpose, the researchers first infected human respiratory cells with corona virus in a laboratory and then analyzed them 4 days later.

In the pictures, the affected cells are yellow, attached to the blue membrane.

These membranes, called the cilia, are hair-like structures located on the surface of the respiratory cells that carry mucus from the lungs to the respiratory system.

The images show the corona virus in red, showing its structure and density.

This research helps to reflect how many copies of the virus each cell in the human respiratory system makes.

Such a high viral load can spread the disease to other parts of the body, while it is also a possible cause of rapid transmission to others.

According to the researchers, the images also show why the use of face masks is so important for infected and healthy people.
