Five people drowned while rescuing a baby cow that fell into a well in India.
According to a report by a foreign news agency, five people lost their lives in Towali near Gonda in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, while trying to save the life of a cow calf.
The five dead jumped into the well to save the calf that fell into the well, which died due to the poisonous gas in the well.
According to media reports, the calf did not belong to any of the five people who died, but four out of the five who died belonged to the same family.
Police say the calf was rescued but the five men who jumped into the well to save the calf lost their lives.
State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed sorrow over the incident and announced Rs 200,000 each for the families of the deceased.
