European Muslim women face widespread discrimination, Helena Daly

EU Commissioner for Equality and Integration Helena Daly is deeply saddened by the widespread discrimination against Muslim women in Europe.

"Muslim women often have to go through a certain kind of gender Islamophobia, where they are discriminated against on the basis of gender, race and religion," she said.

He expressed these views at an online conference organized by the European Parliament's Intra Group on Racial Discrimination and Diversity and the Forum of Muslim Youth and Student Organizations (FEMYSO).

She acknowledged that the discrimination had more to do with name and dress than with the social and economic status of these women. This is a major obstacle for them to work independently and advance themselves in society as they wish.

Helena Daly added that we must all actively fight against this social backwardness and divisive thinking and provide support to Muslim women where they can pursue every field with full freedom and autonomy. Would like to

He added that a survey conducted in 2019 on "the presence of discrimination in Europe" found that 3 out of 10 people in Europe do not like a Muslim in the presence of the League. Half of Europeans, on the other hand, believe that their countries have racial discrimination based on religion and belief.

He stressed that European identity is incomplete without Muslim identity and diversity. She vowed to do her utmost to end racial discrimination against Muslim women in Europe.

On Friday, Helena Daly presented a European anti-racism plan. It called on European member states to take "comprehensive measures" to end racial discrimination in their countries by the end of 2022.
