Elon Musk, 49, founder of US technology companies Tesla, SpaceX, NeuraLink and The Boring Company, has become the world's third richest man as his wealth has increased.
Elon Musk's fortune has increased by nearly $30 billion over the past two weeks, leaving him poorer than Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos.
Interestingly, on August 22 last month alone, Elon Musk became the fourth richest man in the world with a net worth of over $84 billion.
But now his assets have increased, leaving him behind in wealth with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Elon Musk's net worth reached $115 billion on September 1, after which he surpassed Mark Zuckerberg, CNN reported, citing Bloomberg.
Elon Musk's recent rise in wealth has been due to a rise in the value of shares of his car maker Tesla, and overall this year his rise in shares of other companies, including Tesla, has doubled his fortune.
With a fortune of $115 billion, Elon Musk is now the only person in the world poorer than Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, and Jeff Bezos, the founder of the Amazon Store.
The richest man in the world right now is Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, with a fortune of over $200 billion, while Microsoft founder Bill Gates is the second richest man with $126 billion.
Elon Musk is third with $115 billion, while Mark Zuckerberg is the fourth richest man in the world with $112 billion.
The fifth richest man in the world is French businessman Bernard Arnault.
