Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Yasir Hayat issued a written order regarding the hearing of the case. According to the order issued, the court ordered singer Mesha Shafi and other witnesses to appear for cross-examination. At the same time, the court directed actress Saba Hameed and others to appear in the next hearing. It may be recalled that Ali Zafar had filed a Rs 100 crore damages suit against Mesha Shafi on allegations of sexual harassment.
Witness Kunza Munir recorded the statement during the first hearing on the defamation suit last year.
Witness model Kunza Munir, who testified on behalf of Ali Zafar, recorded her statement saying that she was present in the same private studio where Ali Zafar was accused of harassment by Mesha Shafi.
In his statement, Kunza Munir also said that Mesha Shafi's allegations are well known and they are lies.
Mesha Shafi also appeared in court in December 2019, but due to some reasons, his statement could not be recorded.
It may be recalled that many people, especially women, started making allegations against Ali Zafar on social media after April 2018 when Mesha Shafi accused him of sexual harassment through a tweet post.
Ali Zafar had rejected Mesha Shafi's allegations and later filed a suit in the Lahore Sessions Court seeking Rs 1 billion in damages for making false allegations against the singer, which has been the subject of dozens of hearings.
The statements of Ali Zafar and his 11 witnesses have been completed in the Sessions Court and now the statements of Mesha Shafi's witnesses will be recorded. In the same case, Mesha Shafi and his mother actress Saba Hameed have also recorded their statements.
In the same court, Mesha Shafi has also filed a claim for Rs 2 billion damages against Ali Zafar, on which the court has stayed the hearing and ordered that the case of Ali Zafar's damages will be decided first.
It should be noted that two of the women who accused Ali Zafar of harassment have also apologized, including a Twitter user named Sufi and a female blogger and social media activist Mahesh Ijaz.
