China's Defense Ministry has called the US military the biggest threat to world peace.

According to the International News Agency, a report submitted to Congress by the US Department of Defense on September 2, described the Chinese military as a threat to US national interests and world peace.

Reacting to the report, the Chinese Defense Ministry said in a statement that the United States had distorted the facts and misrepresented its defense capabilities. The report also seeks to undermine relations between the People's Liberation Army and the more than 1.5 billion Chinese people.

Col. Yu Xian, a spokesman for China's Ministry of Defense, said the past few years have been clear evidence that the United States is the only country that has disrupted regional peace and global peace. More than 800,000 people have been killed and millions displaced in two decades of US aggression in Iraq, Libya, Syria and elsewhere.

Col. Yu Xian said that instead of admitting his mistakes, the United States has released a so-called report that makes false claims about China's normal defense development.

The US Department of Defense's 150-page report examines China's military might and its objectives. In particular, China's strategy on Taiwan has been closely scrutinized. The report described China's military as a threat to US interests and to world order and peace.

With 2 million personnel, China has the world's largest military, the report said. With 350 navies and 293 submarines, China's navy has surpassed that of the United States. China also has the largest shipment of long-range ballistic and cruise missiles.

It should be noted that this report from the United States has come to light at a time when relations between the two countries have reached the worst level in recent history.
