Pakistan Rangers Sindh and police in a joint operation killed two suspected militants in an 'encounter' in Baldia Town area.
A joint operation in the Baldia Town area of Shar-e-Quaid on Wednesday morning killed two suspected militants who had recently come from Afghanistan to carry out a terrorist operation.
According to a Rangers spokesman, the paramilitary force, in collaboration with the police counter-terrorism department, conducted an intelligence-led operation and killed "two most wanted terrorists belonging to banned organizations in the encounter."
The dead were identified as Muhammad Rafiq alias Adil and Adnan Shabbir alias Qari.
According to him, Rs 2 million was announced by the Sindh government on the arrest of Muhammad Rafiq while Adnan Shabbir was a 'very dangerous terrorist'.
"These (terrorists) were involved in bombings, bank robberies, sectarian killings and the killing of law enforcement personnel," the spokesman said.
He added that Rangers Intelligence and CTT had received intelligence that militants belonging to the Ustad Aslam group of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were present in Baldia Town's Raees Yar Muhammad Goth, on which the Rangers' Shaheen group and CTD police cordoned off Goth on Tuesday night.
He said that as soon as the accused advanced by the forces started firing indiscriminately, however, the law enforcement agencies were asked to surrender to the terrorists through megaphones so that they could be arrested. Continued firing, after which 2 militants were killed during the exchange of fire.
According to him, 2 SMGs, two 9mm pistols, arms and ammunition were recovered from the possession of the accused.
According to the spokesman, "both the accused had recently come to Karachi from Afghanistan and were planning a major terrorist operation."
A Rangers spokesman also said that Mohammad Rafiq was preparing mines and IEDs for terrorist operations in Waziristan and was involved in terrorist operations.
Elaborating further on the accused, he said that Muhammad Rafiq was involved in the attack on a police van in Shah Latif Town on March 27, 2015 in which two policemen were martyred and 15 others were injured.
According to a Rangers spokesperson, the accused was involved in a rickshaw bomb blast on Hub River Road in Baldia Town on October 12, 2014, in which four people were injured. He was also involved in the armed attack, as a result of which four militants Shakib Mudassir, Murad Shah, Wazir Toos and Murtaza Inayat escaped from police custody.
It should be noted that one policeman was martyred and another was injured in the attack on city courts.
According to the spokesman, the militant Muhammad Rafiq was also involved in 'various sectarian killings'.
At the same time, the spokesman described Adnan Shabbir, another militant killed, as "highly trained" by Lashkar-e-Jhangvi's Naeem Bukhari, Farooq Bhatti alias Taya, Shabbir alias Mana, Ishaq alias Bobby, Asim alias Capri and Shah Jahan Burmi. Was a close friend.
He said that the accused was involved in the targeted killing of policemen Aqeel Ahmed, Mohammad Jamil, Mohammad Anwar and Mohammad Akhtar during the armed attack on a restaurant at Korangi No. 5 in August 2015.
According to him, the accused was involved in the target killing of Head Constable Anwar Jaffery in Korangi Dhai in 2014, and in 2015 he was also involved in the target killing of ASI Muhammad Yousuf in Zia Colony, Korangi.
