India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched an investigation into the suicide of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput after getting permission from the central government.
Sushant Singh committed suicide in Mumbai on June 14 and was initially investigated by the Mumbai Police and has so far recorded the statements of 40 personalities.
The actor had apparently committed suicide due to depression and his post-mortem report did not reveal any violence against him.
Mumbai police had also recorded the statement of Rhea Chakraborty, the ex-girlfriend of Sushant Singh, but later the actor's father KK Singh filed a case of suicide of his son at the Patna police station in Bihar state in July against Rhea Chakraborty. Serious allegations were made.
Rhea Chakraborty, who lives in Mumbai, had filed a petition in the Supreme Court of India after a case was filed against her in another state and the case filed against her in Patna should also be transferred to Mumbai.
Following Rhea Chakraborty's petition in the Supreme Court, Sushant Singh's father had appealed to the Bihar government and police to have his son interrogated by the CBI.
Following the request of Sushant Singh's father, the Bihar government had written a letter to the central government appealing to the CBI to investigate the actor's suicide.
Later, in a hearing in the Supreme Court on August 5 on Rhea Chakraborty's plea, the central government had told the court that Sushant Singh's case was handed over to the CBI at the state government's request. Request to be rejected.
