An internal story of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation has come to light from Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar.
According to sources, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar was questioned by a three-member NAB Lahore joint investigation team.
The Chief Minister was also questioned on the charge of buying property in South Punjab under different names and building properties in the name of relatives. The NAB also sought records of the properties of the Chief Minister and his family, how many properties were bought or leased.
Sources said that the Chief Minister was asked whether the license was issued to a private hotel as per the CM policy 2009. On which Usman Bazdar said that he was not aware that the license was issued against the law and against the rules but as soon as he came to know he took notice and directed to take action.
Usman Bazdar said that NAB will provide whatever record it asks for and will appear when called.
The sources further said that NAB officials also asked if they were aware that a bribe of Rs 5 crore was received for a private hotel. To which the Chief Minister said that he did not know who took how much bribe.
Sources also said that the Chief Minister kept saying to Harswal that he did not know anything about it while he asked for time to answer the questions.
It may be recalled that NAB Lahore had today summoned Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar on the issue of enforcing the law against liquor license.
After consulting his team, the Punjab Chief Minister appeared before the NAB officials in person and stayed in the NAB office for about two hours. According to NAB officials, the Punjab Chief Minister has been directed to submit his reply by August 18.
