On the fourth day of the first Test match against England, Pakistan were bowled out for 169 in their second innings, after which England needed 277 runs to win the Test match. Pakistan started the fourth day with 137 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. The last two wickets added 32 valuable runs. At the beginning of the day, Yasir Shah played an aggressive innings, but on a total of 158 runs, he scored 33 valuable runs and was out between the wickets. Naseem Shah was dismissed for 4 runs when Azhar Ali (20), Asad Shafiq (29), Mohammad Rizwan (27) and Yasir Shah (33) were all out for Pakistan.

In the second innings for England, Asworth Broad took three wickets, Chris Vokes and Ben Stokes took two wickets each, Joffra Archer and Dom Base took one wicket each.
