Locals in Alton, Switzerland, were shocked when they were showered with chocolate.
According to the news agency, the ventilation system of a local chocolate factory malfunctioned and chocolate particles were thrown out of the factory.
Due to the strong wind, the chocolate particles were scattered far and wide in the nearby town and it seemed as if chocolate rain had started from the sky.
The Lindt & Sprogley Company confirmed reports of a chocolate outbreak in a nearby town, saying its factory was located in Alton, a small town between the Swiss cities of Zurich and Basel.
According to the company, there was a malfunction in their ventilation system which caused cocoa particles to start coming out of the factory.
There was a layer of chocolate on the roof of a car near the factory. The company maintains that chocolate particles are not harmful to human health. They are also willing to pay for all the cleaning costs.
The company said that the factory's production was not affected by the incident while the fault in the ventilation system has been rectified and work at the factory continued.
