Indian classical singer Pandit Jasraj, who spent 14 hours in practicing, has died.

 

According to the Hindustan Times, he died of a heart attack.

Pandit Jasraj was a big name in Indian classical music and belonged to the Mayawati family, but he was based in the United States at the time of the lockdown in India to stop the spread of the global corona virus.

A statement from his family said, "We are deeply saddened to learn that Pandit Jasraj died of cardiac arrest at his New Jersey home on August 17 at 5:15 p.m.

Pandit Jasraj was introduced to classical music by his father and later received drum training from his elder brother Pandit Pratap Narayan.

He started training in classical singing at the age of 14 and his Riyadh lasted for 14 hours a day.

Pandit Jasraj's musical journey spanned more than 80 years and he was also awarded Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma V Bhushan.

According to the Indian Express, she represented the last generation of classical singers, including 83-year-old Kishori Amonkar.

Many eminent personalities, including the Indian Prime Minister, expressed their grief over his death.
