Hurricane Laura, a Category 4 hurricane, struck the U.S. state of Louisiana, sending rainstorms and hurricanes into Lake Charles, Louisiana, and cutting off power to more than 100,000 people in Louisiana and Texas.
More than 600,000 people have been warned to evacuate from Texas and Louisiana as the storm intensifies, with the hurricane expected to intensify.
The Louisiana governor has warned that storm-affected areas of the state could be submerged, with winds blowing at speeds of up to 150 miles per hour.
