According to Indian media reports, former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee has died after a long illness, his son has confirmed his death.

Pranab Mukherjee was undergoing treatment at the Army Hospital under the supervision of the best doctors.

The former president's death was announced by his son Abhijeet Mukherjee through his official Twitter handle.

"It is with great sadness that I say that my father did not live in this world despite the best efforts of the doctors of RR Hospital and the prayers of all India," he wrote.

Abhijeet Mukherjee wrote, "Thank you all for remembering me in your prayers."

It may be recalled that Pranab Mukherjee had contracted corona earlier this month. Sources said that when Pranab Mukherjee arrived at the hospital for a routine check-up in the last few days, some symptoms of corona were found in him when he was tested for corona. So his report came back positive.

Immediately after that, the former president was admitted to the Army Hospital in Delhi, but now his physical condition is reported to be much better and he is under the strict supervision of doctors.

On the other hand, prayers are being offered in political circles for the speedy recovery of 84-year-old Pranab Mukherjee after he tested positive for Corona.
