Dubai police have been allowed to use security cameras in public places.

According to Gulf News, the Dubai Police will now be allowed to use security cameras in public, making footage from the cameras and using it for interrogation and other activities.

This development comes in the form of a resolution passed by the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which will be effective in enhancing the activities and efficiency of the Dubai Police.

According to a press release from the Dubai Media Office, the resolution aims to improve the quality of Dubai Police services and improve the performance of its personnel.

Police officers will not be allowed to transfer, store, transmit or publish any security footage, although the footage may be shared with the Dubai Police or judicial authority after the written permission of the investigating authorities.
