West Indies position stable in first Test against England

England took a 170-run lead with 284 for eight in the second innings on the fourth day of the first cricket series against the West Indies, which began several months later due to the corona virus.

When play began on the fourth day of the first match of the ongoing series in Southampton, England had scored 15 runs without any loss.

For England, Rory Burns and Dom Sibley gave a good start of 72 runs in the first wicket and Sabley supported Joe Danley for 113 in the second wicket.

Burns and Sable were all out for 42 and 50, respectively, after which Danley's individual innings was limited to 29, but Crowley ended the West Indies lead with a responsible 76-run innings.

Acting captain Ben Stokes tried to lead the team to a big score but his courage was countered by scoring 46 runs off Jason Holder's ball.

Crowley scored 76 runs and was dismissed for 253. England had lost 5 wickets but Gabriel once again put England in trouble and weakened the position of the host team by taking one wicket after another.

Viz Butler (9), Dom Base (3) and Oli Pope (12) improved the pavilion.

At the end of the fourth day, England had scored 284 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and they had a lead of 170 runs. However, the West Indies team is in a position to win the match by taking two wickets early on the last day.

For West Indies, Gabriel was the top wicket taker with 3 wickets, while Rotten Chase and Joseph took 2.2 wickets each.

Earlier, West Indies had scored 318 runs in reply to England's first innings score of 204 and had taken a valuable lead of 114 runs in the first innings.

West Indies captain Jess Holder bowled brilliantly in the first innings and took 6 wickets.

It is to be noted that after West Indies, the Test series between England and Pakistan cricket team will start from next month for which the national team has already reached England.
