Olivia de Havilland, the last actress of the golden age of Hollywood, has passed away.


Hollywood star Olivia de Havilland, best known for her role in the blockbuster Hollywood film "Gun with the Wind", has died at the age of 104.

Born in Tokyo, Japan, to British parents of American descent, Olivia de Havilland began acting at the age of 19.

Her parents moved to the United States shortly after Olivia de Havilland was born, and she moved to France after 1950 after living in the United States for two decades.

Olivia de Havilland starred in dozens of films and dramas and was first nominated for an Oscar for Supporting Actress in 1940, but failed to win the award.

Reuters news agency quoted other showbiz websites as saying that Olivia de Havilland died of natural causes at her residence at the age of 104.


The actress' family and close friends also confirmed her death and said that the last rites of the actress would be performed in Paris.

Political and social figures from all over the world, including many Hollywood celebrities, expressed deep sorrow over the death of Olivia de Havilland, calling her death the end of the golden age of Hollywood.
