Lying in the garden, the 'strange stone' turned out to be the biggest meteor

A statement from the German space agency DLR said the meteorite was the largest meteorite ever found in the country.

But interestingly, the rock, a treasure trove for space physicists, has been lying in the garden of a house in the small southwestern German town of Boulevard for decades.

"The meteorite weighs 30.26 kilograms or 66.7 pounds," said Dieter Heinline, a DLR meteorologist. All the meteorites found in Germany before that were far less valuable and larger in size.

The meteorite had been lying in a man's garden for years in Boulevard. In this town of about 12,000 inhabitants, the man picked it up (or dug it up) in 1989 and tried to remove it from his garden. Then he saw that this 'strange little stone' was not only very heavy, but its upper surface was quite as if the iron had rusted.

In 2015, the German resident even decided to pick up the meteor with the garbage collected in his garden and throw it out without knowing its origin. Then, at the very last moment, his intentions changed for no reason. Then he picked up the stone and placed it in the basement of his house. He reported the "strange rock" to the German space agency in January this year.

The DLR said in a statement: "The surface of this space body has been lying on the ground in a garden for decades, creating such visible material that even an expert scientist could see it only once. Couldn't guess it was a meteor. "
