A father who gave his son a dollar for reading a book has been criticized.

An American father has come under fire on social media these days after he revealed on his Twitter account a few days ago that he pays his eldest son a dollar for reading a 160-page book.

David Woodland, a San Francisco Bay Area resident, tweeted last week that he had given his son 120 120 this year. The son thinks he is impoverishing his father, but this is the "best investment".

Following this tweet, David faced severe criticism on social media. A large number of people called it wrong and a move to make the child greedy.

Some people also said that if his son got into the habit of reading books only in the cycle of money from such a young age, he would stop reading books as soon as he lost hope of money. Some Twitter users have advised David Woodland to consult a psychologist.

In defense of his position, David says that it was his wife's idea to give the child dollars for reading the book. Therefore, he deserves all the criticism and praise for it.
