The UN statement said the application of the Houthis
proposal could send a powerful ceasefire message.
According to the British Broadcasting Agency, the United
Nations has welcomed the suggestion by Houthi rebels to end all attacks on
Saudi Arabia. A statement said that the proposal could send a powerful message
of desire to end the war.
It is understood that the offer was made by the Houthi
rebels after targeting oil installations in Saudi Arabia. The Houthi rebels
claimed responsibility for the attack, but the United States and Saudi Arabia
blamed Iran for the attack.
The head of the Supreme Council of Houthi rebels, Mehdi
al-Shamshat, has said he will end all attacks on Saudi Arabia, provided the
Saudi government and its allies do the same. He said that if no response was
made to our offer, we reserve the right to return and respond. He called on all
sides of Yemen to work together towards comprehensive national reconciliation.
