Bolivia: Former president and former army chief sentenced to 10 years in prison for treason



A former female president, former army chief and former police chief have been sentenced to 10 years in prison for plotting to overthrow the South American country of Bolivia.

According to foreign media, a Bolivian court has found former President Jeanine Anez guilty of plotting a coup in 2019.

The court in its judgment found the accused guilty of making decisions against the constitution and neglecting their duties.

The former president was arrested in March last year on charges of terrorism, sedition and conspiracy.

The president will serve a 10-year sentence in prison, while the former army chief and former police chief have both fled the country.
