Elon Musk, owner of companies like Tesla and SpaceX, is the richest man in the world with a fortune of $216 billion.
But often they live below the poverty line.
The revelation was made by his girlfriend, Canadian singer Grimes, in an interview with Vanity Fair.
The singer said in an interview that she once discovered a hole in the side of a mattress while living in Los Angeles.
Instead of buying a new mattress, Elon Musk suggested keeping the old one at home.
"They don't even have a new mattress," he said.
"They do not live like a billionaire, they often live like those living below the poverty line," he said.
"Don't we live in a very insecure 40,000 house?" He added. Neighbors can make our films and there is no security, where I have been eating pancake butter continuously for 8 days.
Elon Musk announced in May 2020 that he would sell all his homes and most of his assets so that he could invest in a human colony on Mars and not own a home.
He currently lives in a small 50,000 house he rented from SpaceX.

Grimes also said that her relationship with the richest man in the world made her feel that she was stuck between two worlds.
"Elon Musk talks a lot of stupid things but he does the right thing. People think he's saving money, but that's not true. He spends all his money on research and development," he said.
During the same interview, the Canadian singer revealed that she has given birth to a daughter.
The baby was born in December 2021, but is now known as Axa Dark Cadriel Musk, but has been nicknamed Y.
The couple also has a son who was born in May 2020 and is named X Æ A-Xii.
The baby was born by surrogacy and is the seventh child of Elon Musk.
Interestingly, in September last year, Elon Musk announced his 'semi-separation' from his girlfriend, but the relationship was re-established, but they separated again after the birth of a baby girl.
