An 11-year-old boy from Ukraine traveled a thousand kilometers to Slovakia alone.
The boy's mother sent him to his relatives in Slovakia, a thousand kilometers away, to save his son's life after the Russian occupation of the city of Zaporia.
The boy had a plastic bag, a passport and a letter of thanks from his mother to the Slovak government, with the phone number on his hand.
The baby's mother drove him off the train and stayed in Ukraine to care for her ailing mother. Upon arrival in Slovakia, the authorities welcomed the child alone and took him to relatives' homes.
Zaporia has Europe's largest nuclear plant. Russian troops occupied Zaporia last week.
