The United Arab Emirates has decided to buy a dozen L-15s from China to bolster its national defense following attacks by Houthi rebels.
According to the international news agency, the UAE has changed its defense policy after the attacks of the Houthi rebels and is buying modern weapons and military equipment. In this context, it has been decided to buy 12 L-15 aircraft from China immediately.
The United Arab Emirates plans to buy 36 more fighter jets from China after receiving a dozen shipments of L-15s.
In this regard, the UAE Ministry of Defense said that it intends to sign an agreement with China National Aero Technology Import and Export Corporation to purchase and train L-15 aircraft.
A statement from the UAE Ministry of Defense said the purchase of the planes was part of an effort to diversify oil-rich Gulf state arms suppliers.
It should be noted that mainly the UAE Air Force uses American-made F-16 and French-made Mirage fighter jets, while last year France also ordered Rafale planes.
