Smartphones are now also able to diagnose Covid-19

Smartphones are already making our lives a lot easier and soon they will be able to tell people that they are not infected with Covid-19 or influenza.

Experts at the University of California, USA have developed a smartphone app that is capable of identifying Covid-19 types and flu viruses in an authoritative and lightning speed with a lab kit.

According to scientists, this system is more fast, sensitive, low cost and capable of large-scale testing.

He added that the system could be used for other germs as well.

At a time when new types of Covid are emerging around the world, testing and capturing them are crucial to efforts to control the epidemic, said Michael Mahan, head of the team that created it.

"Nearly 50 percent of the world's population owns a smartphone, and we believe it provides people with equal access to diagnostics," he said.

This app is designed for Android operating system which can be installed from Google Play Store.

Upon opening the app after installation, the user will be given the option to explain the procedure before testing the test samples.

The app will use a smartphone camera to test a chemical reaction in an individual's saliva combustion sample and make a diagnosis within 25 minutes.

According to researchers, the lab kit can be made for less than 100 and the cost of screening each test will be less than $7.

However, there is no cost to the app and according to the researchers we have no financial interest, the app and technology is open source and available for free to everyone, the test kit can be reused.

A red circle will appear when the virus is present in the app, while a green circle will appear when there is no virus.

According to researchers, these tests can also be done at home ambient temperature, which helps to keep it accurate.

It has been dubbed the Smart Lamp, which will help in testing the code as well as keeping people healthy with the help of smartphones.

According to experts, the general availability, power and potential of smartphones have made them an important tool for monitoring germs. Billions of smartphones are being used worldwide, providing unparalleled opportunities for disease tracking, diagnosis and civic science.
