An explosion during Friday prayers at a mosque in Afghanistan's Badghis province has killed one worshiper and injured more than 15 others.
A mosque in the Afghan capital, Badghis, has been blown up, according to the International News Agency. The blast was so powerful that nearby buildings shook and car windows shattered.
During the rescue operation, the rescue agency shifted about 20 injured people to the hospital where the martyrdom of one worshiper was confirmed while 15 injured people have been admitted.
The hospital administration says four of the injured are in critical condition, which could lead to an increase in casualties. Taliban militants surrounded the site of the blast. The head of the Badghis health department, Asif Qanat, said one person was killed and 15 others were wounded in a blast this afternoon in the provincial capital. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but there have been more than five suicide bombings at Imam bargahs since the Taliban took power.
Taliban officials are determining the nature of the blast. ISIL has launched a crackdown operation since the Taliban attacked imam bargahs and security forces vehicles in Khurasan.
The United States has offered a reward of up to 10 million for information leading to the capture of Sanaullah Ghaffari, the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Afghanistan.
